maybe we're trying too hard

was in the news very recently about this guy who was driving under the influence, and the car crashed, resulting in him having slight injuries, his friend in the front passenger seat in intensive care, and his girlfriend who was seated in the back seat, dead. it was reported that the dude was crying and begging to see her for the last time, but was refused by her family. it struck me cos like, it's one thing to bear the personal consequences and take the rap for your own wrongdoings, but it's a whole other thing to hurt, and in this case lose forever, a loved one due to your own negligence. obviously he didn't wish for any of it to turn out this way, but well shit happens, and i really dont understand why, after reading about all these incidents or seeing it on the news, people don't learn. they don't stop. drinking then driving is something that everyone knows exactly not to do, and so should have enough brains to not do at all. seriously..
